Kanye West's minimalist-chic social housing project gets an Instagram reveal

Shots of Kanye West's affordable housing scheme have been shared by his collaborators on Instagram, and it turns out to be an intriguing blend of minimalist aesthetics with efficient materials

We'll admit we raised an eyebrow in May when Kanye West announced plans for an architecture branch of his Yeezy design company. His utopian vision for buildings which improve lives sounded very commendable, but could a hip-hop and fashion mogul really break into the industry? The minimalist grey aesthetic of the project is very close to West's own taste in domestic architecture, as he revealed when he tweeted photos of the stark, white, Axel Vervoordt-designed house in Los Angeles he shares with his wife Kim Kardashian.

Nejc Škufca, a specialist in architectural visualisation, and fashion designer Jalil Peraza both shared shots of the social housing project, noting that it is made of prefabricated concrete and expanded polystyrene components. Affordable housing it may be, but it certainly isn't short on design credentials.
