This project is a superb example of a house and landscape being developed hand in hand to achieve a well-integrated overall scheme. The house sits three quarters of the way up the site in an elevated position, with south-facing views over the landscape in front and an established woodland boundary to the west. The landscape is horticulturally varied, with the more formal, intensively planted areas around the house becoming more natural and relaxed in style as you move into the wider landscape. The planting in the water garden focuses on spring colour, with acid-loving plants such as rhododendrons and azaleas providing a riot of colour. The main herbaceous borders are designed for a long season of flowering and the west terraces focus on late-summer perennials. New woodland copses have been planted to the wider edges of the site to help soften the originally rather linear and visible fence line, and mature specimen trees have been planted throughout the site.
