Our client wanted us to refresh a flat that she had owned for years but rarely visited, because it didn't feel like home. She had art and antiques that she wanted to see and enjoy and she wanted flexible seating so that she could hold parties at the flat when she was in the UK. With the client based in the US, meetings were few and far between, which meant that we often had to do styling days when the client was in London and fill the flat with furniture and lamps that we were proposing so that she could see how they would look. Trusted suppliers were helpful with regard to this and we bought lots of pieces from the likes of Soane and Robert Kime. The style of the project, (Images 1 and 2) is very much an eclectic mix of furniture, art and antiques from different periods that all reflect the client's love of colour and pattern. The use of a fairly neutral paint colour on the walls allowed her pictures and wall hangings to sing out in the light-filled spaces. Images 3 - 7 feature a mixture of projects we have recently worked on.
Salvesen Graham is an interior design practice specialising in classic interiors with a modern twist. Design duo Nicole Salvesen and Mary Graham focus clearly on the client brief, so there is no 'house style'. Through the layering of textures and colours, and the juxtaposition of antiques with contemporary pieces, they create timeless interiors for their clients.
