We were commissioned by the client to work alongside the architects to oversee the complete refurbishment and extension of a 3,000-square-foot Victorian semi-detached house in the pretty North Kensington Conservation Area. The house was originally presented as two separate units, which were reconfigured back to their original format, with the addition of the excavation of an extensive basement that extends the full length of the garden. The brief was to make this a fun family home that was durable, practical and original. This resulted in creative solutions, such as a slide to the playroom, which linked the split levels of the newly formed lower-ground floor. Crittall screens were used throughout the house to zone spaces, maximising the light and views between rooms. Bold, graphic patterns were used on tiling, upholstery and rugs to create impact.
"Our house style is people,” says the acclaimed Turner Pocock design team. Although known for accomplished work with colour and pattern, it's Turner Pocock’s lifestyle transformations that engender such loyalty toward them: "We want our clients to come away from a project with us living a little better".
