Ann Boyd

Whether she is designing a country cottage or a newbuild overseas, there is a distinctive, understated chic to Ann Boyd’s work. A Scots-born designer with impeccable taste, a fondness for cool neutrals and a dedication to simplicity, she never skimps on attention to detail. Her philosophy? ‘Natural instinct.’

Ann worked at Hardy Amies in Savile Row and Patrick de Barentzen in Rome, then pursued a successful career as a fashion editor before switching to interior design. She launched Ann Boyd Design in 1997 and has a team of four at her Chelsea studio.

Recently Ann has specialised in long- term projects, including a house in London, now in its second year, and one in the Cadogans which is due to be finished by 2016 or 2017. In the Bahamas, a 1,500-square-metre house project is nearing completion after three years.

Most inspiring place?

‘Hardy Amies’s Old School House in the Cotswolds. A wonderful mix of simple cream plaster walls, oak doors and fur throws on the beds.’
