Edward Bulmer

Based at his Grade II-listed Queen Anne house in Herefordshire, Edward Bulmer specialises in the reorganisation and redecoration of historic buildings, along with a sprinkling of houses. ‘Most projects I lead from the front, so if you employ Edward Bulmer, you get me,’ he says. Clients value not just his practical knowledge, but also his passion for natural materials.

After a degree in art history, Edward joined David Mlinaric on the restoration of Spencer House in St James’s, then worked on historic houses with the picture conservator Alec Cobbe. Edward launched his practice in 1990 and has a team of 10, which also works on Pots of Paint, his range of natural paints.

Recent projects include the redecoration and restoration of The Judges’ House in Warwick, Pitshill House in Sussex, The Garrick Club, and Auckland Castle in County Durham.

‘England’s houses are inspirational in themselves. They often show creative genius on a whole host of levels.’
