Martin Hulbert

He describes his designs as ‘highly considered and insightful’, which is one reason why many of Martin Hulbert’s projects are repeat business. With its early roots in hotel design and private houses, his practice is now broadening its horizons with garden designs and a furniture range. ‘Our goal is to retain our personal approach and continue to deliver unique projects,’ he says.

Martin has more than 25 years’ experience in design and is the award-winning designer of hotels including The Grove, Coworth Park, Barnsley House and Chewton Glen. He set up Martin Hulbert Design in 2010 with the help of colleague Jay Grierson (above left), with whom he has worked for 10 years. The design team recently relocated to a converted warehouse near London Bridge.

Ongoing projects include an island villa in Colombia, a country house in Russia, villas in Tuscany and Kuwait, and houses in Campden Hill Square and Sussex. The team is also currently working on the Abbey Hotel in Bath, along with two hotels in Colombia. Martin Hulbert Design won a Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Award in 2014 for Chewton Glen.
