A talented yet painstaking designer,
Rui Ribeiro says, ‘It is important
to me that each home looks completely
different from any previous
projects.’ His trademarks are cool sophistication,
sharp tailoring and a muted palette, and
he’s a genius at tracking down unique finishes.
Rui grew up in Portugal and
moved to London in 1982 to study interior
design, then worked for an architectural firm.
He set up his practice in 2008, and has expanded
it slowly but surely. In 2013, he moved to a
studio in Notting Hill with his team of six.
Ongoing work includes the renovation
of a Regency house in Brighton, the decoration
of a town house in Knightsbridge and a flat in
Chelsea, the renovation of several large
apartments in New York and Lisbon.
‘Rui’s approach is
so exacting. He pushes me to the extreme of
my abilities,’ says textiles designer Christine Van Der Hurd.
