LocationDar Musique is an oasis of calm in the centre of the famous Moroccan city Marrakech.
What's the storyA spacious privately-owned riad (traditional Moroccan home). There's a peaceful, welcoming courtyard with a dining room and two open-plan sitting rooms, while upstairs there are four beautifully decorated bedrooms, a heated pool and a large roof terrace.
Eating and drinkingDining-in is the most relaxing option: Dar Musique's in-house Berber cook does a wonderful tagine served by candlelight wherever you choose, as well as a great traditional breakfast. Other nearby options include , a busy restaurant with a roof terrace that's popular with expats and visitors.
Why EL loves itThe décor is fabulous, mixing modern art and furnishings with Moroccan classics such as dramatic carved wood headboards. The roof terrace is the perfect sunbathing spot away from the crowds and the service is terrific: staff will come to meet you at the city walls and lead you through the winding streets. It's also great value for a week away with friends in a stylish setting.
Out and aboutBrowse the local shops and markets for decorative ornaments and jewellery - don't miss Jemaa el-Fnaa, the main square in the medina (old city) which is a short walk from Dar Musique. Just prepare yourself for some serious sales tactics! We advise striding briskly unless you're looking to buy.
Getting there flies to Marrakech from London Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester. Flight prices start from £33.99 per person (one-way, including taxes based on two people on the same booking).
